(I know 'Ax' sounds dumb, but I'm a fan of the American English, sue me.)
So... yeah, it's been a while since I've submitted something. This thing - It took about ten minutes to make it, there's not really much to say about that process... But let's see: The left part of the head was a box whose right side was extruded and bevelled, merging into the right part which was a bevelled spline. ProBoolean Modifier (Gotta love that one <3) was used to make the holes of the triangles and the one for the haft.
The lighting was made with a skylight and a mental ray area omni, using Final Gather as well. Man... There's really nothing about Final Gather you could not love.
Rendering the 2560x2048 took a few seconds on this awesome Quadcore! :3
Download for a .zip with the full resolution image (Yes, I know that the picture here is called 'full', but that's just my synonym for 1280 pictures) and the .3DS model of the ax. Do whatever you want with it, just don't claim the unchanged model as yours.
dude, thats brilliantly done, its really good, the only complain I have is the blade texture. the edge is fine, but the blade just seems out of place compare to the rest of the weapon

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

Why don't you post a screenshot of your dragon?
And..."Ax"...baaah...that looks sooo wrong. o.O
My dragon? Because it looks like an electric toothbrush with legs so far, that's why. XD
'Ax' may look awkward, but when I think of all the things I like better in American than in British English - Well, I'll just stick with this.
And now that you mention it... Hm. I suppose you're right, but I don't think I'll work on it again - Ten minutes are enough. ^^
